Willandra National Park, located 76kms from Hillston, was once part of Old Willandra Station.  The Willandra Homestead, shearers quarters, ram shed and woolshed, have been preserved as models of the time that Australia rode on the sheep’s back, and they are all open for inspection.  Enjoy a glimpse into the past as you wander through the area and envisage how life once was for the residents of the station.

The homestead sits on the banks of the Willandra Creek and provide a seasonal habitat for many birds and animals including red kangaroos.  The wetlands, woodlands and grassy plains are home to 23 species of reptile and over 195 different types of birds including the endangered plains wanderer.  Cycle the Merton Trail exploring the area at your leisure. Accommodation is available in the cottage, men’s quarters or camping under the stars.
